Many of the people that have created these titles have all gone to university. They specialize in workshops then develop a real name for themselves, which is really fascinating to me. The details of title art is so intricately done. Each title is nowhere near the same and that is what is most adoring about this website. The plot being similar for these films is not even considered when it comes to the title art style or color. The title art styles also give the film its own flare. For example, the Back-Up Plan. It is a movie about a woman whose dream is to find her true love along with have kids. The title art adds to that as it looks like a cutesy, playful film. Almost as if it could be a cute Disney opening for kids. However, as the opening sequence goes on, it is clear that it is an adult romance film.

I learned that even in the animation of a production company and its credits, the director can present personality to the film. Immediately, they can set the mood or structure of the film then and there, just with credits. For example, Frank Tashlin's 20th Century Fox logo initially had a peculiar-looking man playing the cello. It gives the film humor before it even starts. It seems that back then there was more of a desire to be funny and entertaining. Everything was more theatrical. Tashlin started by the Looney Tunes cartoons. Even though he transitioned to live action films, he never strayed away from his wild, random movements. They were exaggerating each emotion but it was comedically pleasing back then. It makes me think to now because it might seem cringeworthy now.

Genre Research: Lady Bird

Image
What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?       -With Lady Bird also being a coming of age story, it is very easy to compare the films. This movie has the element of personal growth. Through the stress, the character in my final task finds a way to cope with all of her emotions.  What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?       - I enjoyed the dialogue and the personal growth viewers were able to capture.  What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?       - For me, the elements I was not so fond of was the rebellion aspect of it. I kind of felt it could have been delivered a bit better by the writers, what Lady Bird wanted from the people around her.

Genre Research: The Edge of Seventeen

Image
What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?       -The Edge of Seventeen is a drama/comedy film revolving around a girl whose world is somewhat falling apart. My final task is more than similar to this since both girls in both films are suffering from finding acceptance and happiness within the troubles in their lives. They have a hard time with others understanding their troubles. Something as similar as the upbeat music will be applied as well.    What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?       -With these genres combined, it is important to focus on dialogue and the personal growth the character goes through. Character development is something I truly adore when it comes to film. I think the director captured each emotion well.    What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?       -For me personally, there was nothing I would change about this film. They delivered each element perfectly

Genre Research: Ocean's 8

Image
What elements of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?       - Even with Ocean's 8 being a comedy/crime film, there is an element my final task shares with it. That element would be scheme-like music. In my final task, the main character is a hardworking student. They will walk and talk with determination so I think that is a perfect element I could apply. Both also focus on psychological growth as both movies revolve around planning. What elements of the genre did the movie have that you like?       - I liked the breakdown of the plan. The way the director walked the viewers through every step of the heist gave viewers the feeling that they were there with the actresses. What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?       - I can honestly say there is not one thing I felt was off about this film. I liked every element applied since they applied them correctly to the film.

Genre Research: Drama

Image
The genre I will be doing is drama. Specifically, of the coming of age genre. I decided to do my final task on the drama genre because it is compatible with the storyline I am pursuing. My concept for this film is to talk about the societal expectations a teen suffers from. Nowadays, teens are told to follow a certain path then they will succeed. That is not what it is a lot of times and is definitely easier said than done. This film will focus on the struggles of a teen girl as she fights for her shot at a scholarship. As the director, I plan to capture the stress that builds in the characters.  I think this is such an important topic to touch on. Society kind of turns a blind eye on mental illness. They either see it as dysfunctional or weak, especially when it comes to teens. They partially accept it since they feel we are hormonal, random, immature beings who do not know anything about the real world. They think we are dramatic and unkempt, that being a teen is easy. But they could

I think the little bit of adrenaline I get as a viewer is nice, as well as explosions. •What elements of the genre do not appeal to you? -I have c

Genre Research: Drama

Genre Project (Completed).pptx As an introduction to AICE Media Studies, I was told to do a PowerPoint on genres of film. We were given the freedom to choose which genre out of the five. Thriller, drama, comedy, action, and horror. I chose drama. I researched the ins and out of genre. From the ideal angles used, like close-ups and double shots to camera movements, like slow pans or dolly shots. I first found music to go along with the genre to play over the PowerPoint the entire time. Then during my research, I learned about lighting, elements, sound & interpretation, and last but not least, my own likes and dislikes on the drama genre. As I read sources and watched a few videos, I saw how fascinating what many think is basic or easy in film is. The intricacy of lighting in drama is so difficult. Some days it might work out, sometimes not. There are times when directors have to rely on the weather for that good lighting. I found that this had to do with Mise-en-scene. It creates

My Pitch

Image
Pitch 1: Transfer student, Nina Travis, is pushed into the eccentric atmosphere of Millennium Arts Academy. She finds herself pressured to fit into the moralities and cliques of her new school. Explanation: I will start off by saying that I do  genuinely love this idea. I think it can really speak volumes for what it is so many students go through today. There is the reoccurring theme of being peer pressured into so many things like drinking, doing drugs, vaping, or even dressing a certain way that is not you. It is not your ideal but everyone else's so I think it would be really cool to talk about. In the art of film of course. A reason why I am opposed to doing this idea is because even though I am supposed to undoubtedly plan out the movie then just make the first 2 minutes, I think I can get a little carried away with the storyline and making sure there is everything in that little bit of time even when there is not supposed to be. Pitch 2: Hardworking high school senior, Olive

Starting the Final Task

Image
My name is Bremari Henry. I am a 16-year-old in the eleventh grade. Within the previous years, I have learned a couple things about myself. I am a fast learner, and I also work very well when it comes to group work or communicating with others. I signed up for digital media because I always wanted to explore every aspect of art, whether it was music, dance, drawing (digitally or on paper), or design. Even though I was put into AICE Media, it is still a start into exploring a form of art, which is film. Emotions or intentions can be captured by the directorial choices in a film. I think it would do my imagination some good since I have quite a wide range of it. For this project, I will be working by myself. Ultimately, I just find it easier to work with my own imagination. I have come to realize if I am working with others and have my mind set on a certain idea, I can grow very passionate about it and possibly turn into a bit of control freak. Call it a toxic trait. Although, there are
