My Pitch

Pitch 1: Transfer student, Nina Travis, is pushed into the eccentric atmosphere of Millennium Arts Academy. She finds herself pressured to fit into the moralities and cliques of her new school.

Explanation: I will start off by saying that I do  genuinely love this idea. I think it can really speak volumes for what it is so many students go through today. There is the reoccurring theme of being peer pressured into so many things like drinking, doing drugs, vaping, or even dressing a certain way that is not you. It is not your ideal but everyone else's so I think it would be really cool to talk about. In the art of film of course. A reason why I am opposed to doing this idea is because even though I am supposed to undoubtedly plan out the movie then just make the first 2 minutes, I think I can get a little carried away with the storyline and making sure there is everything in that little bit of time even when there is not supposed to be.

Pitch 2: Hardworking high school senior, Olive Vander, is put to the test as she is forced to fight for her chance at a free scholarship to her dream college.

Explanation: Okay, this idea. I came up with this one after thinking about common topics in the movies I love to watch. As I looked through the history of my most watched movies over the last couple of years, I found that I mostly enjoy movies about romance or coming of age. Going along with the cliché plot, I decided to plan out a movie about a girl who is having to face the circumstances of competing for something she has worked so hard for. I could not help but relate it to my daily life as well. My fellow peers and I often find ourselves in a negative mindset when it comes to academics because we know our future depends on it. We strive to do our best, although, sometimes your best is not good enough.  From academics alone, students can develop things like anxiety, depression, eating disorders, or sleep deprivation. This is a movie that never ends for us. From generation to generation, it is not hard to tell that it gets even tougher having to achieve what you want.

For this project, I will be going forward with my second pitch. I cannot wait to see where this goes.

Filming Blog        As mentioned in earlier blogs, filming took place inside my home. Filming took place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. I knew that since I was the only one in the commercial, it would be simpler to finish. That also came with its disadvantages though. For certain shots, specifically in the 1 st , 2 nd , and 7 th scenes, I needed someone else to hold the camera since I was the subject of the film. However, somehow, I made it work perfectly by sing objects around my house like shelves or chairs with wheels. The main difficulty I had was quiet on set. My dog continuously would bark or squeak his chew toy. I resulted to closing multiple doors to drown out his noises and keep him in one place for the small duration of time. Another mild difficulty I had was lighting. There were times where the brightness would be too high on the camera so it would not be compatible with the lighting of the room, or the lighting was so low that it made the camera quality worse.    My name is Bremari Henry. I am a 16-year-old in the eleventh grade. Within the previous years, I have learned a couple things about myself. I am a fast learner, and I also work very well when it comes to group work or communicating with others. I signed up for digital media because I always wanted to explore every aspect of art, whether it was music, dance, drawing (digitally or on paper), or design. Even though I was put into AICE Media, it is still a start into exploring a form of art, which is film. Emotions or intentions can be captured by the directorial choices in a film. I think it would do my imagination some good since I have quite a wide range of it.    This comes into play when I participate in the clubs I attend around school. CCR- Music Video Project

  Creative Critical Reflection How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  - My product is a music video to "Six Feet Apart" by Alec Benjamin. My product breaks the conventions of a pop music video. Most pop videos have a lot of color in them, representing happiness and cheer. I think this video disbands that idea. People in society start to feel anxious and panicked when everyone nut the is happy. This can severely damage a person physically and mentally. 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?     -My product would be distributed through YouTube or Instagram IGTV. I would aim it for audiences who can relate. Sometimes, it is hard to be alone. Whether it is you feel worthless or paranoid or even overwhelmed by the silence.
