Genre Research: Action & Comedy

 Action 

•Common CAMS in the genre (CAMS)

-           -Some common camera movements used in action films are zooms, pans, over-the-shoulder, or pedestal shots.

•Common CLAMPS in the genre (CLAMPS)

   -Some common mise-en-scene in the genre are costumes that are heroic like capes or masks. From the makeup standpoint, bruises and cuts are  made for a fight scene.

•Common Editing in your genre

-Plenty of films will end scene with the edit of fading to black or cuts.

•Example films of your genres

-Some examples of films in the action drama are Tenet, The Maze Runner, and Takers.

•Common sound in your genre

-Often, sounds used in action films will be things like victorious music after the protagonist won a fight or a fake punch sound effect.

•What elements of the genre that you like?

-I personally love the intensity of chase scenes. I think the little bit of adrenaline I get as a viewer is nice, as well as explosions.

•What elements of the genre do not appeal to you?

-I have come to dislike some movies or films due to the bad stunt-work. It has to do with editing as well, but stunt-work can definitely ruin a film for me. 

Comedy

  • Common camera angles in your genre (CAMS)
       -Common camera angles in comedy are low and high.
  • Common Mis-En-Scene in your genre (CLAMPS)
       -Lighting in comedy movies is usually bright in order to deliver an immediate mood lift. 
  • Common Editing in your genre
       -The most common editing I see in comedy films are cuts. 
  • Common sound in your genre
       -A common sound in comedy is dialogue. 
  • Example films of your genres
       -Examples of comedy films are 21 Jump Street, Rush Hour, and Ocean's 8.
  • What elements of the genre that you like?
       -I like the traditional happy ending because it just keeps the positive connotation and lifts the mood.
  • What elements of the genre do not appeal to you?
       -The audience laugh in comedy films kind of makes me feel like I am obligated to laugh in a way. I feel it kind of takes away from the film as whole.
