Introduction to the Music Video Project
For this project, I will be creating a music video. I have decided to work by myself on this project. I have found that I work at a better pace by myself and am understanding of my limits. Besides, my ideas are often scattered and something usually only I understand fully. I am also pretty indecisive when it comes to creating so I think I am just better off working on my own. The name of the song I chose is 'Six Feet Apart' by Alec Benjamin. Alec Benjamin is a male pop/indie artist that creates music about mental health and relatable things that people might be going through. I chose this song because I feel that it is an important element of quarantine to address. A significant issue during quarantine is the feeling of being alone or missing the people you love. This topic, although common, I feel is highly overlooked as to others, feelings like these may be seen as not a big deal. This song is relevant to society today because of COVID-19. People who have not been able to be around their loved ones have been feeling stressed, anxious, and/or depressed because they miss normal life and the feeling of being able to be around their loved ones without getting sick or the guilt of getting them sick. Making music about this topic works as an outlet for people with mental health issues. There is an entire spectrum of mental disorders like anxiety disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, and many more. COVID-19 can cause panic and chaos in terms of supervision of people with mental issues. Being left alone can cause them to spiral and possibly hurt themselves. This entire experience can just be traumatizing, not only for those with mental health, but those who just simply get bored. It can lead to dangerous experimentation or something worse. Therefore, this song can be just the beginning to a journey of coping for people. My intent for this production is to make people feel understood.
