Filming Blog
As mentioned in earlier blogs, filming took place inside my home. Filming took place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. I knew that since I was the only one in the commercial, it would be simpler to finish. That also came with its disadvantages though. For certain shots, specifically in the 1st, 2nd, and 7th scenes, I needed someone else to hold the camera since I was the subject of the film. However, somehow, I made it work perfectly by sing objects around my house like shelves or chairs with wheels. The main difficulty I had was quiet on set. My dog continuously would bark or squeak his chew toy. I resulted to closing multiple doors to drown out his noises and keep him in one place for the small duration of time. Another mild difficulty I had was lighting. There were times where the brightness would be too high on the camera so it would not be compatible with the lighting of the room, or the lighting was so low that it made the camera quality worse. I had to set up little contraptions around my house that I knew would or things that I could make collapse so that I could film a certain shot correctly. There was also the difficulty of having a steady hand in the 6th scene since it had to be kind slow and well, steady to focus on the product. I knew I wanted an upbeat aura, so I strictly went against having a dark setting anywhere. I also made sure to wear brighter clothing so that the light would bounce off better, even if the clothing was a neutral color, it would be a brighter shade of the color(s). I did not use any fancy camera equipment. I simply used my phone and occasionally borrowed my sister’s phone for the camera quality. I could definitely use improvement in about every area, especially due to the environment of my home. I failed to recognize all the obstacles I would have in my home. Hopefully, I can later have a better environment later down the line when producing.
